Kottayam Pushpanath was born in 1938 in Kottayam, Kerala. He was a school teacher by profession, but he had a passion for writing since his childhood. He started writing short stories and novels in Malayalam magazines and newspapers. He was inspired by the works of Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, Edgar Allan Poe and other famous writers of detective fiction. He also read a lot of books on history, mythology, science fiction and horror.
He created his own style of writing, which combined elements of mystery, adventure, horror and humor. He introduced many memorable characters, such as Marxin, a private detective who solved cases with his intelligence and intuition; Pushparaj, a police officer who assisted Marxin in his investigations; Chacko, a journalist who reported on the crimes and mysteries; Dracula, a vampire who fought against evil forces; and Lucifer, a mysterious villain who challenged Marxin and Dracula. He also wrote novels based on Indian mythology, such as Suryaratham, Rudrathandavam and Padakalimuttam.
He was widely popular among the readers of Malayalam literature, especially the young generation. He received many awards and honors for his contribution to Malayalam literature.
